Does not fit Impreza May 21, 2010 Dan1985 (Maryland) The application guide on Amazon says it fits a "2002 Impreza 2.5RS 4door sedan." I was unsure of this so I called Hopkins tech support to confirm this before ordering, which they did.
It DOES NOT FIT, there are no plug in connectors anywhere on the Impreza harness for this (I'm an ASE master mechanic, don't think I didnt trace the whole harness). Called back and talked to another Hopkins tech who told me it was not meant for this car. Why I got contrary information from their service people and Amazon is beyond me. Ended up splicing it into the wiring harness like a univesal fit one, but more expensive.
Could not be easier November 6, 2009 Michael J. Taylor (Greenwood, IN United States) Installation is incredibly easy. Pull up the foam block on the right side of the Forester. Plug this into the connector, replace the foam, and you're done.
Worked great for me! October 21, 2009 Peter Porter (Florissant, CO) Installed fairly easily in my 2003 Subaru Forester. Pulling things apart to get to the plugs is always somewhat of a pain, but it wasn't worth complaining about (try wiring an '86 Ford Pickup...).
The unit seems solidly built and I've used it for several years now without experiencing any issues. I'm only pulling a small utility trailer with the usual rear and side lights, so this may depend on your particular trailer and the condition of its wiring.
Responding to an earlier reviwer: I believe the "by-pass" actually refers to the fact that it doesn't pull the power for your trailer from the tail-light circuit, it pulls the power directly from a 12v connection (in the existing plug) and uses the tail-light circuit to activate a relay. I don't expect the unit to continue functioning after it somehow fails(?).

Very happy with all the products I've purchased over the years. I would like to buy a ceiling fan but cannot afford yet. Looking for lowest price. Would like discount on the - Hunter 52 In. 1886 Series Indoor Fan - Burnished Brass Finish. Thanks
Forester "T" connector June 7, 2008 Steven M. Bush I had a little difficulty installing this plug. The directions tell you where to find the receptacle, but there is a foam filler piece that has to come out to access it. I was not sure how to remove the filler piece without breaking it.It was held into place with velcro and a snap fitting, after removing it just plug and play.
